More than 13,000 Kenyan people live in Canada. If you want to move from Kenya to Canada, you're in the right place. This CanadaVisa page tells you about Canadian immigration options for Kenyans.

Why move from Kenya to Canada?

Many Kenyan people pick Canada because it has good job chances. Canada is also safe and has a stable government. Its economy is strong, and it has good healthcare and education systems.

More and more Kenyan people are coming to Canada to live, work, and study. This number gets bigger every year. Canada plans to welcome even more immigrants, so there will be more chances for Kenyans to move there in the future.

How can Kenyans move to Canada?

Kenyans have a good chance to move to Canada because of their strong English skills, education, and work experience. Canada looks at these things when choosing people to come as economic immigrants.

Federal Skilled Worker Program

If you're a Kenyan living outside Canada, the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) might be best for you. This program lets people with work experience and no ties to Canada or job offers apply to become permanent residents.

The program is for skilled workers who can use their foreign work experience, education, language skills, and other talents to start a new life in Canada. To qualify, you need to meet these minimum requirements:

  • Have a minimum of one year of full-time paid employment within the last decade in a position categorized under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) as levels 0, 1, 2, or 3.
  • Show you have a good level of English or French, at least Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
  • Have a Canadian education credential or a foreign education credential with an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report.
  • Score at least 67 points on six immigration selection factors set by IRCC.
  • Prove you have enough money to support yourself and your family in Canada.

What to do if you qualify for the FSWP

  • The FSWP is among the trio of programs overseen by Canada's Express Entry system, operated by the government.
  • Once you confirm you're eligible for the FSWP, you can upload your Express Entry profile on the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website.
  • After uploading their profiles, candidates from Kenya get a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. This score is based on things like age, education, work experience, and language skills.
  • Every two weeks, IRCC invites the candidates with the highest scores to apply for permanent residency. Plus, IRCC aims to process Express Entry applications within 6 months.
  • The goal is to admit over 110,000 permanent residents through Express Entry each year. With these features, Express Entry is one of the best options and the quickest way for skilled workers to get permanent residency in Canada.

Provincial Nominee Program

  • The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is another big option for Kenyans who want to move to Canada.
  • Canada has 10 provinces and three territories, and most of them run their own PNPs. This program lets each province and territory, based on its own needs, create ways for people to immigrate.
  • Through the PNP, provinces and territories can pick skilled workers to come live there.
  • Kenyans might be able to apply to move to Canada through a PNP if they meet the rules. They can also join the Express Entry pool and get asked to apply for nomination by a province. If they're picked through Express Entry, they'll get 600 extra points. This almost guarantees they'll get asked to apply for permanent residency in the next Express Entry draw.
