Immigrating to Canada offers UAE residents vast opportunities. If you live in the UAE and wish to make Canada your permanent home, you can explore information about your options on this page.

Why Choose Canada Over the UAE for Immigration?

Residents of the United Arab Emirates prefer immigrating to Canada because of the economic opportunities available across various sectors like information and communication technology (ICT), healthcare, and other science and engineering fields.

Canada also provides numerous benefits, including safety, political stability, a thriving economy, advanced healthcare facilities, and a globally recognized education system.

The top five countries, including The United Arab Emirates, are for Express Entry immigrants to Canada. Many people that live in UAE immigrate to Canada as skilled workers in the economic category. With Canada continuously increasing its immigration levels, the number of people from the UAE expected to migrate to Canada is likely to rise further from current figures.

How to Immigrate from the UAE to Canada?

Because of factors like strong English skills, educational background, and work experience, UAE residents are well-suited to qualify for Canada's immigration programs.

Federal Skilled Worker Program

If you've never lived in Canada before, the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) might be your best choice. It allows individuals with work experience and no previous ties to Canada or job offers to request permanent residence.

This program is aimed at skilled workers who can utilize their international work experience, education, language proficiency, and other personal qualifications to establish themselves economically in Canada. Specifically, candidates must meet these minimum criteria:

  • Acquire one year of continuous full-time or equivalent paid work experience in last 10 years in a skilful occupation categorized under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) TEER categories 0, 1, 2, and 3.
  • Exhibit language proficiency equivalent to Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 in English or French across all areas of competency (reading, writing, listening, and speaking).
  • Hold a Canadian educational qualification (certificate, diploma, or degree), or a foreign qualification, along with an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report.
  • Achieve a minimum of 67 points on the six immigration selection factors outlined by IRCC.
  • Demonstrate sufficient funds for yourself and your family to establish residency in Canada.

What to Do If You Qualify for the FSWP

The Canadian Government’s Express Entry application system manages three programs, including FSWP.

Once you confirm your eligibility for the FSWP, you can upload your Express Entry profile to the website of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

After uploading their profiles, candidates from the UAE receive a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score determined by elements such as age, education, work experience, and language proficiency.

Every two weeks, IRCC sends invitations to apply for permanent invitations to apply for permanent residency to the candidates with the highest scores in the pool. Additionally, IRCC aims to process applications within six months under Express Entry.

The aim is to accept over 110,000 permanent residents through Express Entry each year. These factors make Express Entry an attractive option and the quickest way for economic class candidates to obtain permanent residence in Canada.

Provincial Nominee Program

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) presents another significant immigration avenue for individuals residing in the UAE.

Canada, a federal nation comprising 10 provinces and three territories, assigns the management of the PNP to most of its regions. This program empowers each province and territory, with its unique population and economy, to tailor immigration routes according to its economic and demographic requirements.

Through the PNP, provinces and territories can designate skilled worker candidates for immigration to their specific jurisdictions.

Prospective immigrants from the UAE may qualify to apply for immigration to Canada directly through a PNP if they meet eligibility criteria. Alternatively, they can enter the Express Entry pool and receive an invitation to apply for nomination by a province, which selects candidates from the federal pool. If selected through an Express Entry-linked stream, they will earn an additional 600 CRS points, nearly ensuring an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in a future Express Entry draw.
